Paruroctonus gracilior (Hoffmann, 1931) is the type species of the genus.

In situ, under black light, Cuatro Cienegas, Coahuila, Mexico.

...and in daylight. This one is quite melanic, even though it was collected at the type locality of Paruroctonus pallidus (Williams, 1968), a junior synonym under P. gracilior (Hoffmann, 1931). It was collected adjacent to the gypsum dunes at Cuatro Cienegas.
