One of the spiders from this thread http://atshq.org/boards/viewtopic.php?t=2873 (the one eating the wasp and the tiny spider) made a sac after the last photo.

Not that this is unusual AT ALL:) (prolific little critters) but this is a spider that I find myself checking on multiple times a day due to her location on the back porch.

Therefore, I was excited to see this today:

I've never thought about it before, but they do seem to have a little pinkish color to them, although not as much as seems to be showing up (specially in the second pic). It was that weird afternoon gonna-be-fall-soon light when I took that pic, so I'm guessing that might have something to do with it.

Steve-o, I recently took up knitting (much to the amusement of all my friends! I've threatened everyone including the dog with a home made sweater. hmmmm. Spider sweaters!:p

Actually, I'm betting they might actually stay active out there, least for a while. Our boiler is on that porch and the porch is enclosed with concrete block. Rarely gets below 40 or so on that porch and regularly gets in the 60s. I keep my big tropical hybiscus tree out there during the winter and it does fine. Nice porch to have.

Nice pics Lindsey, how long have you been watching this girl? It is some sort of orb weaver right?

Great fun. Most people overlook this kind of wonder in their own backyards.
