I've been collecting Larinioides for a project and I'm wondering what you guys feed orb weavers? Crix? Roaches? Flies? They usually eat small insects and caddisflies from the river. They have been dying on me (probably at the end of their life anyway, but still). I am saving the dead ones to send for species identification, but I can't justify killing them so I'm trying to keep them alive for a little bit. Ideas anyone???? I have them in various critter keeps and such.

Flies, mosquitos and midges are what the orbweavers around my parent's house eat. You are probably right about them coming to an end for the year soon. Most don't survive winter, but leave eggsacs to carry on the next generation.
Orbweavers are beautiful and fascinating. They were my first love among spiders.
