Hey all, i just got my P. imperator today. It is huddled in the corner and will not eat. Probably because of the coconut substrate which i am letting dry out. Also my T dealer sent me an extra T, an G. aureostriata so i am extra stoked. Any help on the scorp and why he is in the corner not moving will be helpful. My guess is that he is getting used to his home. I got it from the pet store and they new NOTHING. My scorp was in a small tank with about 10 others. Looked like appauling conditions, then again i am new to the scorps. I also put a cricket in and he is not eating it. I am going away for the weekend should i take the cricket out before i leave?

Give it a hide and keep that substrate moist. They tend to be stressed out and dehydrated in pet stores. Worry about food when you get back, also I have an under tank heater under one side of my 40 breeder, which keeps things nice and warm. Room temp (73F) is a bit cool, 80 would be far better.

Good luck.

Yes, keep that substrate moist to retain humidty. Keep a water dish full and dont worry about it not eating, this is normal. P. imperator are notorious "fasters" (meaning they binge eat and then fast for weeks to months at a time). Give it a nice hide and offer food every other day for a few hours. If the cricket remains uneaten, remove it and try again the following day.
