This is Lilly, she was my first Tarantula. Like alot of people got hooked on Robc's vids and was lucky when I found out I lived around ten miles from him.
She likes to hide alot so not a very clear picture.

Had to get a G.rosea after reading stories of how strange they can be. She keeps me guessing from day to day of what kinda mood she is in lol.

Very nice collection for someone sort of just starting out! The enclosures look nice in your great photos. Thanks for taking the time to share. Usually new hobbyists make all kinds of mistakes, but you seem to really have this down!

Thanks Christian, I am pretty new and sure I am making some mistakes, but I did stalk the forums and read three or four books also before I got my first T. Not sure it was that I wanted to learn first or that it took that long to convince my wife that they would not sneak out and hunt her down in the middle of the night. But she has come to enjoy them as I have. As for their set ups, I follow TKG pretty much on that and keep them fairly simple: dry substrate and a water bowl...have not had any problems to date with any of them except for a freebie I got, the N.coloratovillosus who had a bare spot that looked like some sorta scar or something on his opisthosoma (can see it in the picture) when I got him. He had a slightly sticking molt in that area a week ago or so but put him in a real moist ICU for two days and was able to get it removed with no harm. Bah I ramble on....but thanks all for the coments and will post more pics later.

OH! That last image? You'll want to feed sparingly, but keep the humidity higher. If you search for "ulcer" or "blister" here, you'll find a lot of info on the topic. Basically it's a soft spot in the exoskeleton which can heal (over a few molts) if given enough time and if the animal is not pushed via frequent feedings. Since it's a smaller animal, the chances are good it'll be OK.

You'll find lots of alternate ideas on enclosures, and some species do require some modifications. I would suggest keeping the lower substrate moist for many of your species, by dribbling water down the side. The animal can then burrow deeper if it's prefers more moisture. It also keeps the humidity higher without making the surface a land of fungus (which is nearly always harmless) and mites.

Glad you found the hobby, and more glad you found it after reading so much, that is a rarity.
