In the begining of this year I bought the Maraca cabocla species. I got a MM and a Mature female. I was the only one with a Mature Male at the time and I attempted to breed my pair. She had no interest. I tried again and she killed him.
The 2 breeding attempt videos can be found in my YouTube channel.
That really devastated me. And I had hoped for a miracle. A month after the death of the only Mature male, she started to make holes everywhere. She finally decided to go into her cave and sealed it shut with a wall of substrate.
Patiently I waited and today is day 31 and I had to see whats the deal. I documented it all because there isn't any info on this species in captivity. Heres the video.

And here are the pictures of the eggs with legs.
Heres what one of my females look like. Reddish carapace with Jet black legs and abdomen with a dark bronze colored ultricating hair patch.

Patrick wrote: Do you know if the female was wild caught? Could it be possible that she was already gravid when you obtained her? Not that it would make any difference. The skill isn't mating them, the skill is successfully raising the babies. Thanks. Every specimen brought into the US was wild caught. Currently there are 4 females and one male (immature) and I have 2 of those females. If you watched my vids, I did show my two attempts with breeding. The second was a failure with the female attacking the male and killing him. Than with the video showing when I pulled the sac, I explained in full detail how the female was already gravid and therefore a possible cause for her killing the male. I think it was pretty amazing that she was gravid during all the trips from Guyana to Florida to California. And when I put her in the custom enclosure and she felt secure, she ate like crazy and shortly afterwards locked herself in the cave. I kinda felt she was gravid after she killed the male because she kept making holes all over the place. I fed her lots with this hope and then I had my miracle. Out of all the specimens wild caught, there was only one Mature female and I got her. She was missing two legs but I didn't care. I just wanted the adult. The other femlae I got was a juvie. She is now an adult. Watch all my documentation on this species in my YouTube link which is located in my signature.
