Thelma came out of hiding for the first time since I rehoused her a week ago, and I was able to see just how huge she is. She was pretty chunky when I got her (almost 2 weeks ago), but damn. I know nothing of her history, other than that my friend Peter bought her at a LPS around September of 2011. Don't know if she's WC or CB, don't think she molted in his care. Is she fat, or should I expect babies? The grey skin is not uniformly grey - it's got lighter, whitish areas, which I read could be babies. Opinions? Advice? Help?

Oh, yeah. Species. She's a P. imperator.

Yes to gravid! Hit Joyce's recent thread on the topic or older ones, they're super easy to raise! Lucky you!!!

Any clue as to when I should expect kids?

Nope. I think they are gravid for many months, which is why they have offspring in captivity so often.

Thelma's original cagemate was named Louise. Turns out Louise is actually Louis. At least I know who the babydaddy is. ;)

Oh, and she's still hugely pregnant. She's got that pregnant glow about her...or, could be reflection of the heat light. Whichever, she's beautiful. :)

Thanks! There are 13 so far. No activity in a few hours, so I don't know if she's done or just resting. My boyfriend says the babies look like mutant gummy bears.

I'm going to stick with 13, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2. They're rather difficult to count, what with being identical gelatinous masses piled on each other and all that. I've been avoiding picture-taking because I don't want to freak Thelma out. They look like little brains piled on her back. Cute little mutant gummy bear brains. :)
